Another popular webbing strap is polypropylene webbing, otherwise known as polypro webbing. This light-weight webbing is more economical than nylon webbing. Polypro webbing is strong – it has a tensile strength of 600 to 1000 pounds depending on the width and the manufacturer. This is a great webbing for those projects require a lighter strapping. This webbing is flexible and water-proof.
Polypro webbing can be used for the same projects as nylon webbing, such as harnesses, boat rigging, dog collars and leashes, to name a few, but is also great for belts, luggage straps and harnesses for lighter objects. It comes in a wide variety of popular colors including neon colors which are easy to see in low light.
Even though nylon webbing is stronger, polypro webbing has some advantages over nylon webbing. It is able to hold its shape because it is stretch resistant. Polypro webbing is water-proof which makes it most useful for projects around water and humidity. It will not absorb water and as a result, will float on water. This webbing strap is more resistant to acid and alkaline, oil and grease than nylon webbing.
There are many attractive colors of polypro webbing are available in widths from ½-inch to 2 inches, and in a variety of lengths. Some rolls of webbing include factory splices, but this is no problem either. Just let us know if you need a roll without a splice. Contact us at the number above if there are any questions.
