Buying in Bulk Helps Everyone

Being an eminently practical and down-to-earth kind of guy, my favorite Christmas present this year was a large lot of cleaning supplies that some friends purchased for me in bulk. I’m a neat freak, but the really good cleaning supplies are expensive.

So when my friends showed up straight from Costco bearing paper towels and Lysol wipes, I was thrilled. Lysol and Clorox wipes hit the market long after I was already an adult. They were so expensive that I subscribed to the Sunday paper just to get coupons and sale information, so I could stock up. They clean and sanitize simultaneously, and my annual ritual of being knocked out by the flu for a whole week stopped when I started killing germs in the house by cleaning with them.

What is the key to being able to afford to clean with these expensive wipes and reap all the health benefits of a home that is both clean and germ-free? Buying in bulk.

Buying in Bulk Helps Everyone

Here at Country Brook Design, we offer nearly all our products in bulk. On a per-item comparison, our prices handily beat all our competitors as a result of this practice. Whether it’s our products, your household cleaning supplies, or something else entirely, when and why should you buy in bulk?

Bulk buying gives you the very best value you can get for your money. When you order in bulk, we are able to offer a much lower price for the same high-quality product.

If you have a crafting business, buying in bulk is exactly what you should do. You'll save money and have plenty of inventory for your product. If you aren't selling your crafts, why not find a crafting friend or even several who'll share the costs with you?

A Practical Example

A 50-yard roll o f heavy black nylon webbing in bulk.Buying a 50-yard roll of webbing brings the price comes down considerably.

One of our top-selling items is our Black Heavy Nylon Webbing. In the 1-inch width, our prices break down nicely by the yard. The 10-yard order is 89 cents per yard. The 20-yard order is 84 cents per yard. The 50-yard order breaks down to 59 cents per yard.

Why such an enormous drop?

Whether you order 10 yards or 50, we still have to process, pack, and ship your order. Our labor, shipping, and packing costs are nearly identical whether you order 10 or 50 yards. That’s why we can offer you a great deal when you order 10 yards and such a spectacular one when you order 50.

Price-checking some of our competition, who do not sell in bulk, shows a very different story. 89 cents a yard is ~30 cents a foot. Our competition that sells differently has prices that start at 50% higher than ours - well over 40 cents a foot.

Buying Bulk Is Good For Everyone

In today’s tough economic times, Americans are looking for the best deals and most efficient use of their money they can get. Costco, a company that deals in bulk sales of items used by household and small businesses, won several awards for being a great place to work. Their sales are going up and they’re expanding as more and more Americans see the value of stretching their dollars as far as they can.

Bulk buying reduces your carbon footprint, too. When you buy in bulk, you place fewer orders. That means fewer resources expended on packing, shipping, and delivering your orders. In the case of local items, it’s fewer car trips to the store to pick up items, and less energy, electricity, and fuel expended to provide.

Everybody wins when you buy in bulk: you, your wallet, the companies you do business with, your customers, and the planet.
