Bright green grosgrain ribbon incorporates Luck of the Irish into the weave.

Longtime friends may notice that as we introduce new ribbons to our product line, they are all Polyester Grosgrain instead of our traditional Cotton Ribbon. Some of you have asked us why. Well, there is a distinct reason for that...

You see, when Country Brook Design was born in 2003, our focus was strictly on making the absolute best dog collars possible. In the nine years following that humble beginning our business has expanded greatly to support other crafters and businesses. However, our roots in the dog collar business remain very strong.

When selecting materials to construct a great dog collar, you must consider the suitability and durability of the product. Many dogs play hard, even in the elements. Those dogs require a collar that is rugged and can stand up to the abuse. Polyester is a much better fit under these conditions than cotton.

For starters, polyester does not become water logged like cotton. This has obvious benefits for ribbon that is to be used in the great outdoors. In addition, polyester is much a more colorfast fiber than cotton, meaning that it won't lose its pattern through direct sunlight or multiple washes like cotton will. As if that were not enough, polyester is more wrinkle resistant and has greater tensile strength than cotton.

Finally, we can offer polyester grosgrain ribbon as a significant discount over our cotton offerings.

When you consider all these factors, it seems like polyester grosgrain ribbon is the natural choice for almost every ribbon application over our traditional cotton ribbons.

We are proud to continue to expand our lineup of grosgrain ribbon made from 100% polyester. If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask them in the comments section here, on Facebook or Twitter, or hit us up on the phone.
